On Fanfiction.net I had created a post/story about my dislike of Ginny. I decided to share it with you since it was deleted because of all the reports from (As I like to call them) Pro-Ginnys. I'm a little bum but I expected nothing less. Here's the post, I didn't edit the post so there ARE names misspelled, grammar mistakes, and a few mistakes in general. My future posts of this Ginny WILL be edited and thought out more nicely. Well enjoy, or not;
5 Reasons Why I hate Ginny Weasly
Inspired by 15 Reasons Why I Hate Ginny Weasly
SPOILERS TO HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS - DEATHLY HALLOWS
Ginny/Harry is the only cannon that I have a problem with. (Others I would hope for something more complicated, but I'm fine with them) Instead of creating a hundred page rant - which I could do with little time, a Pepsi, and the Harry Potter books at my hands - I'll save you the pain and stick to a 5 reason list with a short explanation.
I do want to clarify a few things; I don't hate Ginny because she has Harry Potter, I ship some other ship, or I hate J.K Rowling. I don't want Harry Potter for myself, he's like a brother to me, someone I grew up with and wish nothing but happiness. If I could have paired Harry with anyone that's already written in the books, it'd be Luna. But I can't, so that's a moot point. I don't hate or like J.K Rowling's stories or her writing - I love her stories and writing.
1) She Makes No Difference to the Story
How would have any of the Harry Potter plots have changed if Ginny Weasly never existed, besides in the Chamber of Secrets? (In my opinion, her place could have easily been taken place with Luna. She's kind of naive sometimes and that's when she was 14-17, imagine 11? Unknowing. Imagine, sees a diary and thinks it's a journal created by Nargles to befriend Luna during her Hogwarts journey, eh?) I think if Harry Potter was going to get a love interest (IF, I would be indifferent if Harry Potter had no love interest after Cho Chang) she has to contribute something to plots or be someone that'd help shape Harry Potter. S
2) Ginny was Created FOR Harry Potter
She is Harry Potter's ideal girl. (Stated by the lovely Ms. Rowling herself) Ginny has all the traits Harry Potter looks for in a girl, none of what he doesn't want, shares the same interest as him, and behaves the way Harry Potter wants his girlfriend to behave. A strong character, mainly a female character, should not be created simply of the main character's love interest, be the person that's expected of the main character.
3) No Flaws
Being Hot-Tempered isn't a really a flaw, most find that trait endearing. So...what are her flaws? One of the many things I love about J.K Rowling is her talent for characters that aren't all bad or good. (Besides Old Voldy) Maybe Ginny does have flaws, but that's not interpreted by Harry. I get it that Harry likes her, and like most 16 year olds, their crush or boyfriend/girlfriend is perfect. Yet, why is that no one around comments on it? Pro-Ginny fans mostly ASSUME her flaws. Just because you think or hope her flaws doesn't make them true. If not stated by Rowling or said in the book, they're not true.
4) How She Is Shoved Down Our Throats
She's like a penis. Good idea, most would be more than willing to have her blow her, and read about. However, if you just shove her in our face, it's not enjoyable to anyone besides the annoying fans of her whom are willing to like any character that the main character loves or is what they wish they could be. Hadn't J.K Rowling said that she knew Harry and Ginny were a go from the start? Why hadn't she dropped some hints before she shoved at us? Hints from Prisoner of Azkaban to Order of the Phoenix would have been nice, no, needed. There are hints dating all the way to Chamber of Secrets to Ron/Hermonie. I'm not asking of hints as obvious as the Ron/Hermonie ship were, but something! Sheezes, we saw the penis coming, the majority would be ready and excited.
5) She's a Mary-Sue
She's perfect all around to everyone besides the characters, some of the naive readers, and the author.
*DRAMATIC SIGH* I'm so agitated. Ginny would have been one my second favorite! (No one, not even if I loved Ginny, could have replaced Severus as number 1) I would have loved her character so much. I'm so disappointed. All of her traits of ideal for my character...but that's just it, she's all description. Ginny isn't real, there isn't a single part of me that believe there's a Ginny out there. She's unrealistic and molded for Harry Potter. Quite sad. The only character whom I'm disappointed in with Rowling. Such potential WASTED.
I have more reasons, I don't feel like writing all of them, but believe me when I could have written an eyeful.
Obviously, many fans - myself included - would love a The Marauders, Snape, Before Harry Potter, or a Sirius inside Azkaban story, but those books aren't needed. (Wanted yes) However, most of the Harry Potter fans dislike or are indifferent to Ginny. I feel a Ginny Throughout Hogwarts is needed. She supposedly went through this epic life changing experience with her personalty and looks. I haven't any of it, so all it seems to me was that Ginny looked over her notes (I imagine Ginny kept notes of Harry Potter) of why Harry liked Cho Chang and Hermonie's insight of Harry wants in a girl, and decided to become her. Throughout the summer before Order of the Phoenix Ginny went through some cosmetic surgery and changed her personalty. Hell! For all we know if Harry decided to be with Hermonie during his sixth year, she would have lost her marbles Avada Kedavra Hermonie, slipped Harry a Sleeping Draught, tied him up in her room, and rock slowly back and fourth while staring at him in a wedding dress screaming how she is going to Mrs. Harry Potter! Anyways..a Ginny Throughout Hogwarts book is very much needed, and could be the lane that leads me to my love of Ginny...or something other than I want Voldemort to Avada Kedavra you.
Thoughts? Want to add more, agree, debate my reasons, or try to explain why you love Ginny, leave me a review! ;)
HOW HARRY POTTER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED!
"I have no interest in girls at the moment." Harry told a curious Ron, who spent the last hour asking relentlessly why Harry doesn't have a girlfriend," There's a war going on. I might die. And what if Voldemort finds out about her and decides to kill her?"
19 YEARS LATER...
Harry Potter and Luna Lovegood, or Hermonie Granger, or Draco Malfoy, or Ghost Severus Snape, or Nevile Longbottom, or Ghost Voldemort, or Molly Weasly, or Duddley, or Ron Weasly, or whoever the fuck - are holding hands as they take their second child to Hogwarts.
THE END
Really? Would it have been so bad if Harry didn't start dating or meet his wife during the books? ;\
